Department of EMERGENCY MEDICINE
Life is a dynamic process. The even tenor of health conceals the continuous storm raging in every nook and corner of the body. The reason why disturbance is an essential part of the tranquility characterizing health is that the living body is like a running engine. The disturbances faced by the human body are enormous and it is a felt need of the health care delivery system to rectify and cater to the needs of the community. We at the Department of Medicine are not only committed to providing the best available patient care services but also to impart academic training and teaching to our students which is at par with the global standards. In the Department of Emergency Medicine at HIND Medical College, we work with the motto that "No Obstacle remains when the team works as one".FACILITIES:
1. Injection Room- Male & Female 2. ECG Room 3. Teaching Beds- 30 No. 4. Nursing Station, Examination Room, Treatment Room, Pantry, Store, Duty Room & Demo Room.Our main objectives are that at the end of the course, the student should be proficient in the following -
The major objectives of the department are such that at the end of the course, the student shall be able to:- diagnose common modes of management including drug therapeutics especially dosage, side effects, toxicity, interactions, indications and contra-indications;
- outline various modes of management including drug therapeutics especially dosage, side effects, toxicity, interactions, indications and contra-indications;
- propose diagnostic and investigative procedures and ability to interpret them;
- provide first level management of acute emergencies promptly and efficiently and decide the timing and level of referral, if required;
- recognize geriatric disorders and their management;
- develop clinical skills (history taking, clinical examination and other instruments of examination) to diagnose various common medical disorders and emergencies;
- refer a patients to secondary and/or tertiary level of health care after having instituted primary care;
- perform simple routine investigations like hemogram, stool, urine, sputum and biological fluid examinations;
- assist the common bedside investigative procedures like pleural tap, lumbar puncture, bone marrow aspiration/biopsy and liver biopsy;
- with community medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation to have the knowledge and be able to manage important current national health programmer, also to be able to view the patients in his/her total physical, social and economic milieu;
- with other relevant academic inputs which provide scientific basis of clinical medicine e.g.. anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology and pharmacology.
